You’re a Bottlecap Away From Pushing Me Too Far

When I have a bad day, I like to put the Old 97’s on and sing my favorite songs at the top of my lungs.

Then I get some StellaTherapy. Snuggles and slobbery kisses and giggles make my frustrations melt away.

Don’t Blame the Interface

Last week, Larry and I were watching TV. As usual, there was nothing on the eleventy million channels on the Dish Network, so Larry started poking through our list of recorded shows and movies on the DVR. The VERY COMREHENSIVE list of at least 20 movies we’ve never seen and countless episodes of Lost, the Office, and Anthony Bourdain’s No Reservations, and some episodes of National Geographic’s Taboo–a show that seemed like it would be interesting and a bit perverse, but was actually kind of boring and gross. (For instance: an hour episode about old people living at a nudist colony, riding around on their ten-speeds with their junk flapping all over their banana seats, the streamers on the handlebars tickling their thighs. ew. Or how about the one with the rats?)

So I say to Larry, “I don’t think we need to keep those episodes of Taboo. They aren’t as good as I thought they would be.” Ah, famous last words.

Larry sorts the list of recorded shows alphabetically, and only the Taboo episodes show up on the list. Then he pushes SELECT ALL. And then he selects DELETE. The message comes up–ARE YOU SURE, Smartypants? And Larry’s all “YES, I’M SURE, STUPID DISH NETWORK.”

Me: “Um, don’t click yes. I think you’ve selected all of our recorded shows, not just the Taboos.”

Larry: DELETE DELETE DELETE click click click push push push DELETE DELETE DELETE.

Me: “Did you just do what I think you did?”

Larry: “oops.”

Me: “I’m going to bed.”

This is where Larry blamed the interface.

I was never going to watch The Pursuit of Happyness anyways. The intentional spelling error bothers me.

A Small Rant

I hate knowing that I’m being taken advantage of, especially by a friend.
